Mondays I leave work early and pick up the kiddo from day care. Today we went shopping at the plaza near school -- Old Navy, Panera, Bed Bath & Beyond -- all my favs.
We were running around Bed, Bath, and Beyond (a favorite "wear him out" activity of ours). We were making a gave out of "find the dogs and cats". The vacuum section is a nice place to start, sine all the vauums lie that they pick up all the dog and cat hair that your animal will leave behind. We had several minutes if "DOH! CAH! DOH! CAH!", and then moved over to the pillow section where we could touch things.
We spent a few minutes hugging pillows, and then I started to lead us over to the massage chairs.
"COO! COO! COO!!!!" he starts yelling.
"A what?", I asked, having no context for this outburst.
"COO! DOH! COO! BOO!" he yells, pointed to a display of dog beds.
I come around to see what's he's pointing at, and I see this:
Yep, that's a light blue paw print on a package for a sofa cover.
Baby was really upset that we didn't write down this clue in our Handy Dandy Notebook, though I pretended to write it down as I took a picture of it.
Do you think the graphic designers knew what they were doing to my kid when they chose this logo?

18 Month Doctor Visit
I never posted this one when it happened, but it's bothering me that it's not here.
So yeah, went to the Doctor for his 18 month checkup. He cried. No biggy.
Stats:
22 pounds
29.5 inches tall
Head 20 inches around
We asked how long he should be sleeping. The doctor said, "until he's not tired. But don't worry about it. You can control how he sleeps as much as you can control the tides. He'll be fine."
I think he impressed the doctor (which is hard to do) when he pointed him out when we asked "Where's Dr. Newman?" Smarty pants.

Things I'll forget ... Monkeys
Currently Baby's favorite book is "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed".
His favorite part is when the Momma calls the Doctor and the Doctor said "NO MORE MONKEYS JUMPING ON THE BED!", and he wags his finger at me and says "No No No".
Last night we were reading a different book with lots of everyday things labeled. We named the baby's eyes and ears; we named the dog, which goes "woof"; we named the cow, which goes "moooo"; and we named the monkey, which goes ... "No No No."
And then he didn't understand why we were laughing at him.

Sunday November 11 ... 19 Months
You repeat everything. Sometimes it's cute, like when I teach you a song or a book:
Sometimes it's not cute, like when I'm trying to discipline you.
And sometimes it's just plain inappropriate (yet hilarious), like when you run around saying "SHIT! SHIT! SHIT!" after I drop something. (And I know that's what he's saying, because when I catch myself and switch to "shoot", he starts saying "Shoot! Shoot! Shoot!!!")
We had a great time at Halloween this year. Mom and Dad we about to go to Daycare's Halloween party and parade.
Everyone loved your Tardis costume.
We went to Beth and Bob's house for a Halloween party, and you had a great time! So much food!!! You especially liked the cheese and cider. And that night you slept until 7:30am! A new record!
We've been playing a lot with Emily and Zoey. We went to their house for a playdate and Halloween Party.
You've been playing "cooking" a lot, so Momma made you your very own kitchen.
You LOVE LOVE LOVE your iPhone. You love your Peek-a-Boo game, your "Elmo" app (PBS kids app), and you love to look at the pictures and watch videos of yourself.
You play this really random game where you want to be swaddled in the quilt.
Other things this month! Hurricane Sandy pounded the east coast, we were stranded at home for a few days. We played Weather Man and went a little stir crazy.
Then one week later, we had a freak blizzard and you got to play in the snow with Daddy.
(that's the stroller)
And ... still nursing! It's a little weird, because you ask for it, and then by the time we sit down to nurse you will have distracted yourself and won't want it anymore. The only time you nurse for longer than a few seconds is first thing in the morning, which is a nice time to snuggle. You still demand it the moment I walk in the door after work, but them immediately find something else to show me.
